week to finish work on the national Academic Library Survey (ALS), if you have
not already done so.</P>

<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt">The <?xml:namespace prefix = st1
ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">National</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType
w:st="on">Center</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> for Education Statistics (NCES),
working through the U.S. Census, <SPAN
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>collects data biennially from about 3,700
degree-granting postsecondary institutions in order to provide an overview of
academic libraries nationwide and by state. The Census sent a mailing in early
November when the survey was launched.<SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes">
</SPAN>The survey closes on February 25, 2009.</P>
