You’re welcome! Just realized in cutting & pasting from QuestionPoint I left out critical information: I searched for the phrase “"Scramble for Africa 1880-1912”, and that was the section that does begin on page 362.

I believe I found the book by using Google Books. It’s The Kingfisher History Encyclopedia, 1999. The Google Books results show that this section begins on page 362, as in the patron’s email.

This book seems to be available through the Chemeketa Cooperative Library Services system: https://catalog.ccrls.org/client/en_US/ccrls/search/results?te=&rt=false%7C%7C%7CCCRLS_OCLC%7C%7C%7COCLC+Number&qu=40521195<https://nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcatalog.ccrls.org%2Fclient%2Fen_US%2Fccrls%2Fsearch%2Fresults%3Fte%3D%26rt%3Dfalse%257C%257C%257CCCRLS_OCLC%257C%257C%257COCLC%2BNumber%26qu%3D40521195&data=02%7C01%7Csenior%40up.edu%7C0f631dee652d46f4d53108d7a0f44a31%7Cea8f3949231c40b6a33f56873af96f87%7C0%7C0%7C637154843396713849&sdata=R6yyXkk%2B6Cw3aJHjMjr5Q8hxZV2O7Shw28hcgQdsK%2FM%3D&reserved=0>

Checked our oversized history area at Chemeketa Community College and didn't find anything comparable.

Hello Answerlanders,

A patron is looking for help:

“I have copies from a book, and I'm hoping you can help me find the actual book. I checked it out through the Chemeketa system several years ago, but I haven't been able to track it down since then.” Other details from the chat:

• page 343 contains a section about South Africa from 1814-1910

• page 362 contains a section called "Scramble for Africa 1880-1912”

• page 33 contains a section about Southeast Asia 1800-1913

• Page 299 was about India being colonized by the British

• The theme of the book was history of the world. I would describe it as imperial history of the world that follows timelines. I think the timeline went from 10,000 BC to the 20th century. It could have been considered an atlas? Every page is on a timeline. It is divided by region within time periods.

• It was an oversized book. It would have been 400 or so pages. I think the cover might have been black, and it had a lot of maps. Many of the maps were in color and featured how colonization impacted each major region

• It was NOT a textbook. It was not in reference, since it could be checked out.

• It’s not Timelines of History by DK, Nat Geo Atlas of the World, or Ways of the World: A Brief Global History with Sources
