Dear ASIST Trainers,
I am excited to announce that we are offering scholarships for 12 Oregonians to attend the ASIST Training for Trainers on August 22 through August 26 in Medford, Oregon and become ASIST trainers! See below and the attached documents for application information.
* What: The Oregon Public Health Division will pay the registration fees ($2885 per person) for up to 12 people to attend the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) Training of Trainers (T4T). ASIST is "the world's leading suicide intervention skills workshop." ASIST comes from LivingWorks<https://www.livingworks.net/> Education LP in Canada.
* Who may apply: Interested Oregonians who complete and submit the Trainer Candidate Application Form (attached), who have supervisor's written support (if applicable) and are able to meet the expectations described in the Trainer Agreement (sample attached).
* Where: Medford, Oregon
* When: August 22 through August 26, 2016
* How to apply:
* Read and have your supervisor read (if applicable) Essential Information for Candidates and other documents here<https://www.livingworks.net/programs/asist-for-trainers/>.
* Get your supervisor's support and approval (if applicable).
* Complete the Trainer Candidate Application Form (attached).
* Send the Trainer Candidate Application Form to me (donna.noonan at state.or.us<mailto:donna.noonan at state.or.us>) by June 24th.
We will consider all applications, giving special consideration to the potential impact on targeted youth populations, trainers taking a systems approach within their communities, and to geographic region. I will let you know whether you have been accepted or not the first week in July. If accepted, I will send you a trainer agreement to sign and return to me. At that time, we'll register you for the T4T.
ASIST is on the Suicide Prevention Resource Center's (SPRC) Best Practice Registry. Find that listing here<http://www.sprc.org/bpr/section-III/applied-suicide-intervention-skills-training-asist>.
This ASIST Training for Trainers is funded through a Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Youth Suicide Prevention grant to the Public Health Division from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Funding for this training is made possible by grant number SM 061759 from SAMHSA. The views expressed in written training materials or publication and by trainers do not necessarily reflect the views, opinions, or policies of CMHS, SAMHSA, or HHS; nor does mention of trade names, commercial practices, or organizations imply endorsement by the U.S. Government.
