RE: Notice of Proposed Rulemaking - OAR chapter 333, division 20 -
"Newborn hearing screening, diagnosis and early intervention"
________________________________________________________________
The Oregon Health Authority, Public Health Division is proposing to permanently amend, adopt and repeal administrative rules in chapter 333 division 20 relating to early hearing detection and intervention due to the passage of HB 2754 (Oregon Laws 2017, chapter 426) during the 2017 legislative session. The rules are being amended to include new requirements for hospitals, birthing centers and diagnostic audiologists to provide materials about congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) to parents or guardians. Other proposed changes to the rules will clarify vague or inaccurate language.
Pursuant to Section 2 of HB 2754, hospitals and birthing centers with more than 200 live births per year will provide parents and guardians with materials compiled by the Oregon Health Authority on the following: transmission, signs and symptoms, methods of diagnosing, potential complications, and treatment and management of congenital cytomegalovirus.
You are being invited to review these proposed rules and to comment on them. If you wish to present oral testimony, a public hearing will be held in Portland, Oregon at 800 NE Oregon St, Room 1E, on December 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. You may also file written comments before 5:00 p.m. on December 5, 2017 to the Public Health Division Rules Coordinator at the following address:
