Round 2 Funding Opportunity for

Registered Apprenticeship & Pre-Apprenticeship

Dear Community Partners,

I am pleased to announce that the Bureau of Labor and Industries (BOLI) has opened Round 2 of the Future Ready Oregon Grant Program.

The BOLI Apprenticeship and Training Division (ATD) has been allocated $18.9 million in grant funding to support the development, expansion, and implementation of registered apprenticeship and pre‐apprenticeship programs and services to apprentices and pre‐apprentices.  As the state leader of registered apprenticeship, BOLI is excited to use this opportunity to create new apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs that expand into the manufacturing and healthcare industries. Utilizing the apprenticeship model in new industries is our path to securing more family-sustaining wages for workers without the burden of student loan debt.

These funds will also create additional construction pre-apprenticeship programs and provide supportive services to key populations in all eligible industries to help apprentices reach certification.

Applicant proposals are to include planned systems for intentional outreach and retention resulting in high completion rates. Successful programs will align with BOLI’s focus on creating equitable access to apprenticeship with outcomes-driven approaches to reaching, retaining, and graduating Oregonians from historically underserved communities.

BOLI’s funding process will occur in three consecutive rounds and will shift each round to balance funding across industries, services, and state workforce regions. Round 1 closed on June 2, 2022, and grants were approved by the Oregon State Apprenticeship and Training Council (OSATC) on July 27, 2022. Staff at BOLI works in conjunction with the OSATC which reviews and approves all components of this funding opportunity including all award determinations.

BOLI’s second round of funding is capped at $10,000,000 and opened on August 2, 2022, and closes on September 2, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. (PDT). This is a time-sensitive opportunity, and we encourage all to share this information with pertinent networks as soon as possible.
