[Busmgrs] 4-05 SSF Update Memo

Hello,

 

Today we've posted the updated State School Fund estimates for 2003-04,
2004-05, and 2005-06.

 

We have chosen to use $5.25 billion as the projected state appropriation
for 2005-07.  We've chosen this number because it splits the difference
between the House Ways and Means Co-chair's proposed school funding of
$5.175 billion and the Senate Co-chair's proposal of $5.325 billion.  It
is also, by coincidence, the number that the Governor stated several
weeks ago would be the minimum amount he would accept for school
funding.

 

It is important to note that Superintendent Castillo and key legislators
continue to advocate for a higher level of funding than any of the
numbers included above.

 

These projections also include the latest updates to the key variables -
ADMw, local revenues, 11% cap waivers, teacher experience,
transportation grants, facilities grants, etc.
