[Busmgrs] FW: Function Code Guidance for IDEA SPR&I Grants

          Yesterday the question came up about which Function code to use with the SPR&I grant.  The SPR&I Annual Sub Grant description was sent to me and is attached above.  After calling a few districts, I discovered that they are not using the correct Function code.

            It appears most districts are using 1250 - Special Education Student Instruction which would be appropriate for most IDEA grants.  But SPR&I is for training regarding collection and interpretation of data, development and implementation of an improvement plan, and evaluation of impact and effectiveness of improvement strategies.  This has nothing to do with Special Education Student Instruction.  In fact, it has nothing to do with Improvement of Instruction Services (Function 2210) or Instructional Staff Development (Function 2240).

            The correct Function codes to use are either 2190 - Service Direction, Student Support Services or 2620 - Planning, Research, Development, Evaluation Services, Grant Writing and Statistical Services or one of the sub codes like 2622, 2623, etc. which roll to 2620.
