Wildfire, air quality resources
With wildfires continuing to burn in Oregon, we want help ensure that all schools and district leaders have access to information to help inform them on making decisions regarding sports and other outdoor activities for students:
The Oregon School Activities Association<http://www.osaa.org/> has provided updated recommendations specific to school athletics in a memo on its website<http://www.osaa.org/docs/committees/sportsmed/smokememo.pdf>.
The Oregon Health Authority has a Wildfire and Smoke page<http://www.oregon.gov/oha/PH/Preparedness/Prepare/Pages/PrepareForWildfire.aspx> on its website with many materials including a fact sheet<https://apps.state.or.us/Forms/Served/le8815h.pdf> that is available in six different languages.
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has an Air Quality page<http://www.oregon.gov/DEQ/AQ/Pages/default.aspx> on its website with helpful information and links to air quality measurements around the state<http://www.oregon.gov/deq/aq/Pages/aqi.aspx>.
ODE will continue to provide updates from these primary sources through its Twitter account; please subscribe to these updates @OrDeptEd<https://twitter.com/ORDeptEd>.
If you have any additional questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Ely Sanders<mailto:ely.sanders at ode.state.or.us> at 503-947-5904.
