[CAFR-Contacts-News] Close of Month 13 and Agency Disclosures for FY 14

Hello CAFR Contacts:

Due to the way the calendar falls this year, the close of Month 13 will be Friday, August 15, which is a week later than it has been in recent years.  While the extra week will allow more time for agencies to enter their year-end adjustments, SARS loses critical days it needs for the timely publication of the CAFR.  In order to reclaim some of this lost time, SARS must reduce the number of days between the close of Month 13 and the date agency disclosures are due.  Therefore, agency disclosures will be due Tuesday, August 19 this year, and this will be a Gold Star Date.  We strongly encourage agencies to utilize a similar time frame for due dates, internally, as were in place last year, i.e. a soft close of August 1, to minimize the impact of this current year only change.  We believe that in doing so, agencies will have sufficient time to complete the agency disclosures and submit them to SARS by August 19.

SEFA disclosures will continue to be due one week following the close of Month 13 (Friday, August 22) and it will also be a Gold Star Date.

To be clear, this year's close of Month 13 in mid-August is the exception.  Going forward, the close of Month 13 will once again occur within the first 1/3 of August.
