[CAFR-Contacts-News] SARS staff introductions and agency assignments

Hello CAFR Contacts,

It's the time of year when new SARS analysts are introduced and agency (re)assignments are announced. As many of you know, we had four new people join the SARS team this past fall, and I'd like to introduce you to them now:

Michael Cutler - Senior Operations and Policy Analyst

Michael is a CPA, with a Bachelor of Science from Portland State University.  His experience in governmental accounting began right out of college with a CPA firm in Coos Bay/Coquille and then in Lake Oswego, both active in auditing a variety of government entities.  He then transitioned to being the auditee, working for several state agencies as an accountant, budget analyst, and accounting manager before making his way to SARS the first time.  He then worked as an investment reporting analyst at Treasury, and now is in his second stint in SARS.  Michael enjoys building, modifying and "playing" with computers with a bit of woodworking on the side. Barbara Homewood - Senior Accounting Analyst

Barbara has a Bachelor of Arts from Linfield College and has worked for the State of Oregon for 24 years, less nine months while she lived in Georgia and six months while she lived in Minnesota.  She began with the State as an accounting technician with the Department of Veterans' Affairs and has worked at eight different agencies while advancing to her position at SARS. Sangit Shrestha - Senior Accounting Analyst

Sangit is a CPA, with an MBA from the University of Phoenix.  Prior to joining the State in 2008, he worked in public accounting for eight years and he was a finance manager for a privately held company.  Sangit's state service includes roles as the CFO of the Board of Nursing and as a senior accounting analyst at the Department of Human Services.  Sangit is also a part-time adjunct accounting and finance professor at Marylhurst University, University of Phoenix and Keller Graduate School of Management. Barb Watson - Accounting Analyst

Barb began her accounting career in New England, and then ventured to Alaska for 17 years.  She worked for an oil and gas corporation rotating through various accounting positions, including budget, revenue and royalty, materials, and partnership tax.  Barb continued to work independently doing partnership tax after she and her family moved to Oregon.  Barb also has experience as project controller, working for a program management joint venture serving ODOT.
