The Salem Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors is partnering with the Willamette University's Atkinson Accounting Association and Atkinson Graduate School of Management to bring Carman Lapointe, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) to speak on Useful Leadership Insights from a Career in Internal Oversight.  Please join us for this very special luncheon event 11:30am on December 8th at the Alumni Lounge - Putnam University Center, Willamette University.  The cost is $20 for non-IIA members and includes a box lunch and 1 hour of CPE. Carman L. Lapointe possesses the breadth and depth of experience and expertise required for this position. Since February 2009, she had been the director of the Office of Audit and Oversight at the International Fund for Agricultural Development, IFAD. From 2004 to 2009, she was the Auditor General of the World Bank Group.

Ms. Lapointe has also held chief oversight positions in a number of Canadian crown corporations, including: Corporate Auditor with Canada Post Corporation; Auditor of the Bank of Canada; Vice President of Internal Audit and Evaluation with Export Development Canada.

She has served as Chairperson and member of the Audit Committee of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe and as an Audit Committee Member for UNRWA. In 1994-95, Ms. Lapointe was Chairperson of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the profession's global organization. She has also served on the Criteria of Control Board of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and currently serves on a standards task force for the International Federation of Accountants.

Carman Lapointe is a graduate of the Financial Management Program in Internal Auditing from Algonquin College in Ottawa and is a Certified Internal Auditor, a Certified Fraud Examiner, and holds a Business Ethics Certificate from Colorado State University.
