Governor Kulongoski to Open New Columbia's "Main Street" and the
WorkSource Portland Metro North Center

Salem, OR - Tomorrow Governor Ted Kulongoski will be joined by
representatives from the City of Portland, Oregon Employment Department,
Portland Community College, and community members to celebrate the
opening of New Columbia's "Main Street" and the WorkSource Portland
Metro North Center. 

New Columbia is Oregon's first HOPE VI redevelopment.  When complete, it
will be one of the largest neighborhood redevelopments in Portland's
history, providing affordable housing to residents at a range of income
levels. The redevelopment was funded by both public and private
investments. 

The event will also showcase the opening of the WorkSource Portland
Metro North Center.  This center will include partner staff from the
Employment Department, Portland Community College, and the Housing
Authority of Portland.
