For the PIO e-mail list?

The National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women
(NOBEL/Women) is holding its 21st Annual Legislative Conference June
29-July 2 at the Doubletree Hotel-Lloyd Center (1000 NE Multnomah St.,
Portland). NOBEL/Women is an affiliate of the National Black Caucus of
State Legislatures. This is its first annual conference in the Pacific
Northwest. State legislators from approximately 30 states will attend.
Senator Margaret Carter is the conference chair and Senators Avel Gordly
and Jackie Winters are hosts.

Oregon legislators, Capitol staff and the Salem community are cordially
invited to attend the conference breakfast and opening ceremony from 8
to 10 a.m. on Friday, June 30, in the Doubletree Hotel's Lloyd Center
Ballroom. (The breakfast and opening ceremony are complimentary.)

The breakfast keynote speaker will be The Honorable John Edwards, former
United States Senator from North Carolina and current Director of the
Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity at the University of North
Carolina Law School. Mr. Edwards will speak at 9 a.m.

To attend the breakfast and opening ceremony, please R.S.V.P.
(acceptances only) to the Secretary of the Senate's office by June 23 at
(503) 986-1851 or julie.medina at state.or.us. (This is a sit-down
breakfast so we need an accurate head count.)

Conference workshops on June 30 will focus on health. Continuing
Education credit through Portland State University will be available. We
also are applying for Continuing Legal Education credit through the
Oregon State Bar. For information on the full program, email or call
Senator Carter's office at sen.margaretcarter at state.or.us or 986-1722.
