Hello everyone - 

 

Here is some information about ways to honor and remember Arlene Whalen
of our Agency Affairs staff, who passed away unexpectedly on May 4,
following an illness.

 

A gathering at the Oregon Department of Forestry employee memorial,
along Mill Creek near Building E (Services Building), is scheduled for 3
p.m. on June 22. If the weather is rainy, the Tillamook Room will be
available as a meeting place. For those not familiar with our location,
we're at 2600 State Street, in Salem.

 

This will be an informal opportunity to share memories of our friend and
colleague. Arlene's husband, Mike, and their two children are planning
to attend.

 

Arlene's nameplate will have been affixed to the monument before the
gathering.

 

Many of you have asked about making donations to a particular
organization that Arlene admired. She was a great fan of the work of The
Nature Conservancy, and an account in her name has been set up there.

 

If you write the phrase, "In memory of Arlene Whalen" on your check,
Mike will receive an acknowledgement of your donation.

Mike asked that I pass along his thanks for the many cards he has
received. If you would like to express your sentiments in this way, you
