We are delighted to announce that we have selected Chane Griggs to be
the new Public Affairs and Central Services Administrator within the
Public Services Division, beginning Monday, November 5, 2007. Chane
comes to DOC from her position as Senior Policy Advisor/Statewide
Legislative Coordinator for the Department of Administrative Services.

Chane brings with her a wealth of experience, knowledge and established
working relationships within state government, with the Legislature and
with community partners. She has demonstrated expertise in high-level
legislative affairs, communication, media relations and administration.
In this role, Chane will serve as the agency's principal legislative
liaison, head our communication and media relations efforts, and lead
our division's central services. Further, her established relationships
within state government, the Legislature, and the community will be
invaluable to the ongoing work of the Oregon Department of Corrections.

Earlier in her career, Chane was responsible for state agency
e-Government communications and led internal communications for DAS, and
served in various roles for the Oregon Legislature including as
legislative liaison, Web editor, and as supervisor of Visitor Services
for the Oregon Capitol. 

Chane holds a bachelor's degree from Miami University in Ohio, a
Certificate in Public Management from the Atkinson School, and studied
Japanese at Willamette University. She currently serves as president of
the Public Management Association, is a member of the State Library
Advisory Council, is a member of the City of Salem History Landmarks and
Design Review Commission, and chairs the City of Salem Budget Committee.


An avid runner, Chane and her husband Jim live in Salem with their two
black Labrador Retrievers.
