PUBLIC INFORMATION MANAGER

OFFICE OF THE MAYOR

 

 

SALARY RANGE:                $5,190 - $6,956 per month

 

CLOSING DATE:                  November 30, 2007

 

 

ABOUT THE JOB:  The Public Information Manager will plan and implement
an external marketing and communications program promoting the vision,
goals, activities, and image of City government to citizens,
neighborhoods, businesses and community leaders; manage the City's
public information program to effectively represent the City to the
public and the media, perform a variety of duties to enhance community
and citizen relations, improve access to City services, and accomplish
City/community goals.  

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:  Develop and implement a comprehensive
communication strategy, prepare news releases, feature articles, and
speeches for elected officials and City staff; serve as media liaison
with the local media on breaking stories, news features and public
information campaigns; research, write, and supervise the production of
major publications, including the City-wide newsletter, brochures,
election and general information.

 

TO QUALIFY:  The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in public
relations, communications, journalism, English, or a related field and a
minimum of ten years experience in the field of public relations or
public information management, including direct management
responsibility for a communications/marketing function of an
organization.  Experience in the public sector is preferred.

 

A valid driver's license is required with the ability to meet the City's
driving standards.
