Re:      Update on Federal Recovery and Stimulus Dollars

Since we last met, the Governor has launched the economic recovery web
site <http://www.oregon.gov/recovery> , the tracking tool
<http://www.oregon.gov/recovery/StimulusReporting/index.shtml>  so
Oregonians know exactly how federal economic recovery dollars are being
spent, announced an Economic Recovery Management Team
<http://governor.oregon.gov/Gov/P2009/press_032309.shtml>  and the
members of the Oregon Way Advisory Group
<http://www.oregon.gov/recovery/mission.shtml> .  These announcements
were possible because of your help in pulling all of the information
about the impact of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act on your
agency.  So thank you for your assistance and attention to this
important issue.

 

I am pleased to announce that we have hired Courtney Warner to serve as
the Communications Manager for the Economic Recovery Management Team.
She comes to us most recently from the Oregon Economic and Community
Development Department and is a great asset to the Governor's office as
we work to fulfill his commitment to transparency and accountability for
how the ARRA dollars are helping Oregon.

 

Courtney will be the press point of contact for the state on the state's
efforts to put the federal ARRA dollars to work. Please include her on
any emails about ARRA dollars in your agency, coordinate with her on
information on your website, and please let her know if you are
contacted by the media and coordinate your response with her.  Also
please keep her informed when action around the competitive dollars is
being taken by your agency.

 

Courtney is also working to identify message events for the Governor and
when appropriate agency directors on how the ARRA dollars are helping
Oregon communities. If you have ideas for events, please share them with
Courtney. Our goal is to have the Governor travel the state once a week
to demonstrate that these dollars are delivering (or will deliver)
meaningful investments for communities.  

 

I want to thank you for all of your assistance when our office is
looking for information in your subject area.   We will without doubt be
coordinating more and more with you as more information about the
federal dollars becomes available.  It is critical that we all continue
to work closely together to meet both the Governor and the President's
expectations around these investments.
