Governor Kulongoski and Secretary Sebelius to Issue Call to Action on
Healthy Kids

 

(Salem) - Tomorrow Governor Ted Kulongoski will be joined by United
States Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius to
launch the Healthy Kids Sports Campaign that will bring parents,
coaches, schools and community partners together to educate families
about the Healthy Kids Program. 

 

The campaign is part of Oregon's response to Secretary Sebelius'
"Connecting Kids to Coverage Challenge" which calls upon leaders in all
levels of government, public agencies, community based groups, health
and human services providers the faith community and others to reach out
and enroll the 5 million uninsured children who are eligible for
Medicaid and the Children's Health Insurance Program but are not
enrolled.  

 

The Governor and Secretary will also be joined by the Cleveland High
School football coach and a family that recently enrolled in the program
to talk about the importance of having comprehensive health coverage,
especially as the fall sports season is approaching.
