Governor Commends House
Health Care Committee on Passage of
Oregon Insurance Exchange
(SALEM, Ore.) — Governor Kitzhaber released the following statement regarding the House Health Care Committee passage of the Oregon Insurance Exchange:
"I commend the House Health Committee's vote on Senate Bill 99, establishing the Oregon Insurance Exchange. A local Exchange established by and accountable to Oregonians and not the federal government is vital to bringing quality, affordable health care to more than 350,000 Oregonians. Oregon's Exchange will allow individuals to shop and compare plans. It will also help our state's small businesses provide coverage for their workers, which is central not only to the health of Oregonians but to Oregon's economy. I urge the full House to pass SB 99 and look forward to signing this key piece of our health care improvement agenda. It's time to move forward in building a strong health insurance exchange for Oregon that offers choice, competition, and transparency."
