Good afternoon, all,

The bill to refill and expand the CTE Revitalization Grants, Senate Bill 498, is up tomorrow in the Senate Education and Workforce Development committee.  The hearing begins at 1:00 p.m., although the bill will be heard closer to 1:30 p.m., and you can watch it live online.

Please go to, click on the Audio/Video tab at the top, click on Hearing Room C, and you should be able to follow right along!  Because this is such a popular program here in the Capitol, we are feeling very confident that the legislators understand its value.  This hearing is just to show them some of the amazing work being done in just the first year of the grants.  We'll have teachers, students and business partners there to relate their personal stories.

While the grant was initially funded at $2M, we are asking the legislature to refill the grant at a substantially higher amount.  The idea, of course, is to expand these programs to as many schools and communities that want them.  By illustrating the success of the grants through these personal stories, it could help legislators to better remember their importance when the bill moves down to the all-important Ways & Means process, where the funding amount decision will be made.

Because of its popularity, we haven't needed the full out push that so many of you made happen in 2011, but we are all so grateful for your continued support of this important program.  We hope you'll listen in or stop by if you are in Salem!

Thank you.
