Greetings,

The Oregon FIRST Robotics Grant funded by the Oregon Legislature will be administered by the Oregon Robotics Tournament & Outreach Program, a 501c3 non profit organization.  Established in 2011, the grant program will continue to provide funding for participation in FIRST programs to Oregon public schools and non-profit organizations conducting after-school programs in public schools.  The Oregon Legislature budgeted $466,650 to support FIRST programs in schools during the 2017-2018 and 2018 - 2019 seasons. Team based awards will provide support for FIRST LEGO League, FIRST Tech Challenge and FIRST Robotics Competition teams.

FIRST – For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology – is an international program with the stated mission to:
“…inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.”

The purpose of this grant is to:
Increase the number of students interested in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) related careers through participation in FIRST programs.
Elevate community involvement through mentorship and sponsorship of FIRST teams.
