[DAS_Centralized_PERS_Services_Team] Non-Subject Salary & PERS Reporting Reminder

Greetings Payroll Partners,

The purpose of this communication is to remind agency payroll partners that non-subject payments do not report to PERS on the monthly CPERS file, and to clarify when agencies need to manually report non-subject payments to PERS.

By design, Workday is set up to deduct & report PERS contributions on all PERS subject salary paid to employees that are in PERS eligible class plans. This happens smoothly with regular payroll, but corrections require additional considerations.

When making corrective entries using non-PERS subject earning codes the wages are not reported to PERS, because they are non-subject. If the wages being paid are truly non-subject, then there is nothing more to do.

If non-subject earning codes are being used as a workaround where the hours and wages should be subject or reported to PERS, the agency  needs to manually report these hours and wages to CPERS. This is done by notifying CPERS<mailto:Central.PERSServicesTeam at das.oregon.gov> of the payment.

The responsibility of accurate PERS reporting begins with agencies. CPERS will manually adjust employee retirement accounts using the information provided by agency payroll when corrections are submitted.
