For the first time ever, Oregon Public Health Week has three events on
the schedule that focus on the prevention of domestic and sexual

Advancing the Discussion: Framing Sexual Violence Prevention using the
Public Health Model


Presented by: Sandra Clark, MPH (OSU Alumna) and Torrie Bordokoff (PSU
MPH Student)


This is a discussion-based hour in which we'll analyze how media framing
of sexual violence influences our solutions and our ideas about
prevention as social change activists, public health workers, and
community members. We're going to discuss the public health model not
only as an approach to sexual violence prevention, but as a specific
framing device for how we discuss, think about, and respond to sexual
violence portrayals in the media. Participants will be given tools to do
media framing analysis that will enhance our ability to mobilize
communities and advance the discussion about sexual violence prevention.
