Attention Prosecutors!

The Oregon Attorney General's Sexual Assault Task Force just received a grant that will allow us to provide training for prosecutors who currently handle, or anticipate handling within one year, sexual assault cases involving adult or adolescent victims.

This training, which will take place in Salem Wednesday November 16-Friday November 18, will be provided free of charge to registrants, including travel, per diem, and lodging.  Attendees must attend the entire training in order to receive CLE credit and to receive reimbursement.

This 2.5 day training covers topics including:
*        Sexual Assault Dynamics
*       Building Strong Victims for Strong Cases
*       Reluctant and Recanting Victims
*       Charging Decisions
*       Grand Jury
*       Strategic Voir Dire
*       Legal Issues such as Rape Shield, Prior Bad Acts, Protective Orders and Crawford
*       Trial Tactics
*       Opening
*       Cross Examination
*       Working with Experts
*       Closing
*       Plea Negotiations and Sentencing
*       Diversity and Ethical Considerations

REGISTRATION IS LIMITED TO 30 PARTICIPANTS. Priority will be given to prosecutors who are from rural Oregon counties.

If you are interested in attending this training, please send an email to Christine Herrman at the Oregon SATF at christineherrman at oregonsatf.org<mailto:christineherrman at oregonsatf.org>, and include your answers to the following questions:
1)      Are you available to travel to and be present in Salem between Wednesday, 11/16 at 8:00 am and Friday, 11/18 at noon?
2)      Do you currently handle sexual assault cases involving adult or adolescent victims?
a.      If yes, indicate how long you have been prosecuting adult or adolescent victim sexual assault cases.
b.      If no, indicate why you believe you will be prosecuting these cases within a year.
3)      What prior training, if any, have you received in regards to sexual assault cases involving adolescent or adult victims?
4)      How long have you been a prosecutor?

PLEASE RESPOND ASAP, and no later than Wednesday, November 2 at 5:00 pm. Notice of selection will be made via email by November 9.
