The Multnomah County Domestic Violence Enhanced Response Team (DVERT) is pleased to announce that we will be hiring 2 Crisis Response Advocates to join our team.  These advocates will be contracted through Volunteers of America Home Free.

DVERT Crisis Response Advocate:

VOA Oregon is seeking two (2) experienced domestic violence advocates for full-time limited-duration (12 months) positions.   These positions are part of a one-year pilot project in partnership with the City of Portland, Multnomah County, and Home Free, Volunteers of America Oregon's domestic violence intervention program.  The project will assess the need for after-hours domestic violence crisis response in conjunction with police response. The DVERT Crisis Response Advocates will be responsible for providing in-the-moment crisis response to individuals who have been identified as victims of domestic violence by Portland Police Officers. The advocates will be sited within a police precinct office and will be available to police during afternoon and evening hours to respond on-scene or to connect via phone to survivors immediately following domestic violence incidents.

Required: The Crisis Response Advocates will work with minimal on-site supervision and must have solid experience (minimum 2 years) and demonstrated proficiency in domestic violence advocacy.  Candidates will be assessed for ability to work in emotionally charged situations and proven skill in crisis intervention.  Must also have experience working with diverse populations, valid driver's license, ability to pass an extensive criminal record/background check and driving record check, and ability to work in a law enforcement environment as well as in the field.
