OREGON DOJ's 2016
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CONFERENCE
TRAINING ANNOUNCEMENT
"Boot Camp VII"
The OREGON DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE's DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RESOURCE PROSECUTOR program is offering a fantastic DV conference for PROSECUTORS. This conference will focus on developing and honing trial advocacy skills through lecture, group discussion, and intense participation by attendees. The training will also focus on best practices in other areas of DV prosecution, such as creatively building a better DV case, drafting and arguing Forfeiture By Wrongdoing and other pre-trial motions, improving our interaction with child witnesses of DV, and cultivating a better understanding of how to work with community corrections. The training will also provide prosecutors with case law updates!
Ø Who Should Attend: Oregon and Tribal Prosecutors who handle DV cases. The training is appropriate for ALL levels of prosecution experience
Ø When: November 2-4, 2016
Ø Where: Criminal Justice Division , Salem, Oregon
Ø Faculty/Presenters: Veteran prosecutors and attorneys, law enforcement officers, community corrections officers, and other victim resource providers from around Oregon
Ø COST: REGISTRATION IS FREE and includes materials and refreshments. Attendees will be responsible for covering all other expenses (excluding lodging which will be paid by DOJ).
* Attendees living more than 50 miles (one-way) from the conference facility will be reimbursed for lodging ONLY. Details about reimbursement will be included in the Conference Confirmation Letter upon receipt of a completed registration form.
There are ONLY 30 seats available at this conference. In an effort to facilitate attendance by as many counties and tribal nations as possible, the application process will only accept the first TWO applications from any one jurisdiction. If there are additional seats available after the initial application process has been completed, additional attendees from already attending jurisdictions may be admitted. A waiting list will be maintained for those jurisdictions wishing to send more than two attendees. Priority may be also be given to those prosecutors attending "Boot Camp" for the first time.
CLE credit will be requested from the Oregon State Bar for this conference.
