Dear Colleagues -

I want you to be among the first to be aware that I will be ending my
employment with the Department of Education effective at the end of this
month.

You have been a valuable friend and colleague in our collaborative work on
behalf of all the students in Oregon. I look forward to your contributions
for the state's children and any role I may play in the future for the sake
of children. I have appreciated and valued Susan Castillo's leadership and
vision for our public system of education and the benefits it can provide
for each and every child. She has my continued support for her work in the
years to come and my heartfelt wishes for her success.

Thank you for your friendship, partnership, and concern for children.

Sincerely,

Steve
