	Please share this information with others who may be interested in
training opportunities:

			The Special Education Summer Institute, 2003 has
been cancelled due to economic considerations. Hopefully this wonderful
experience will be restored in better times.  

			The Department of Education, Office of Special
Education, is, however, able to offer requests for proposals for training
grants to districts under the IDEA State Improvement Grant (SIG). Notices
will be going out this week to districts throughout the state. While these
grants will be more limited (or focused) than in previous years, they will
give districts opportunities to plan for enhancing services to students with
disabilities in a meaningful way.  Awards are anticipated to be announced in
