RE: FAMILY INVOLVEMENT SURVEY
As you know, Oregon is required under federal law to develop a State
Performance Plan (SPP) to monitor its general supervision
responsibilities under Part C (birth-2) and Part B (3-21). The SPP
contains 20 Part B Indicators and 14 Part C Indicators of performance.
One of those indicators has to do with family involvement.
As recommended by the Office of Special Education Programs at the United
States Department of Education, our Department utilizes the research
firm of Avatar, Inc., to develop and analyze our annual parent survey.
Through the use of a sampling plan, parents in specified districts
around the state are randomly selected to receive the survey via mail
.The surveys are returned to Avatar for review, compilation, and
evaluation. Results are reported on in our Annual Performance Report,
which is publicly posted on our website.
The parent survey helps us measure, through a neutral third party
(Avatar), how parents feel districts are involving them in the
educational process of their children. The purpose of this message is
to inform all of you of the counties (EI/ECSE) and school districts
