Site Evacuation Coordinators,
With the Legislature soon to be in town, we want to make sure that the
document at the DAS Emergency Evacuation Planning web site is up-to-date. We
endeavor to update it monthly - last update being this morning. There are
two important dates per building in the Capitol Mall area.
* The date of your building's last earthquake drill.
(Earthquake drills were mandated by the 2001 Legislature to be annually. The
drill is generally initiated by blowing a whistle followed by "drop, cover,
and hold." A building evacuation is optional.)
* The date of your building's last evacuation drill.
(The RisKey document, Sound The Alarm, calls for one building-wide
evacuation per year. Since a fire is the most likely emergency event, we
suggest you choose the evacuation be a fire drill at least every other year.
If you prepare for emergencies according to Sound The Alarm, your building
will meet the requirements of the local fire department and OR-OSHA rules.)
Check out the top link at this site. Contact me if there is information that
needs to be updated.
