In the advent of an emergency, Oregon can request current satellite imagery via the International Charter agreement. There have been several people trained, but the primary person is Sheri Schneider with USGS in Portland. Sheri is an OGIC member. We just sent her an email alerting her that we might request imagery if there is any significant damage as a result of the tsunami that struck the Oregon coast. So far, we haven't heard of significant damage, but please let us know if you hear of anything. The link below to the OGIC page contains two things: the agenda and a link to the Framework Implementation Team page. At the last OGIC meeting, we initiated some discussion about FIT governance. Since then, Milt has convened two joint meetings with the PAC, GPL, and FIT to discuss governance and he will provide a briefing on their progress at the next OGIC meeting. You'll find a series of documents they've worked on at the FIT link on the OGIC page under the heading Framework Governance Review Documents. cy Cy Smith, Statewide GIS Coordinator DAS/EISPD Geospatial Enterprise Office President, Urban/Regional Info Sys Assoc. This review takes place every two years and helps determine which missions to maintain and which to terminate. This is the venue for the states to provide their feedback/input. There is a limited timeframe to respond, but we would like to know what you (or others in your state) utilize and deem important. Dr. Lewis Lapine has been selected by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to participate in the NASA Earth Science Senior Review 2011/National Interests Panel for Mission Extension of Earth Science Operating Missions. Dr. Lapine will review 12 NASA missions; CALIPSO, GRACE, QuikSCAT, TRMM, Aqua, CloudSat, Jason-1, SORCE, Aura, EO-1, Jason-2/OSTM, and Terra. NASA has requested Dr. Lapine to coordinate input from NSGIC on the above missions. A questionnaire is attached for this purpose. Please distribute the questionnaire to interested parties in your respective states. Use a separate questionnaire for each mission. It is critical that Parts E-G be completed for the questionnaire to be counted. Dr. Lapine will combine all the results into a spreadsheet for NASA. It is not necessary for you to collect the forms or send them to me. Please have your reviewers send the completed forms as attachments directly to Dr. Lapine at lew.lapine at scgs.sc.gov. In order to compile all the results Dr. Lapine requests your input be sent to him no later than Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Thank you, td Dr. Timothy M.
