---Forwarded Message--

As you may appreciate, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are reduced when industry conducts fuel switches from fossil fuel to woody biomass. Quantification of such emissions reductions depends on the nature of the proposed fuel switch. For example, a fuel switch from diesel to woody biomass yields approximately 22.2384 fewer pounds of CO2 emissions for each gallon that is not burned.

The attached Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Protocol defines steps associated with quantifying, verifying, and registering Voluntary Carbon Units (VCUs) associated with implementation of such fuel switches. If appropriate, you may also encourage folks with questions about carbon and/or Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to contact me. I will be happy to address their concerns.
