To mark the one-year anniversary of Fruits and Veggies-More Matters, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Produce for Better Health Foundation have created a new series of consumer tips under the slogan, "Get Smart! Fruits and Veggies-More Matters." The tips are designed to help moms, "Get Smart!" in overcoming traditional barriers to purchasing, preparing, and serving more fruits and veggies at every eating occasion. Topics include

- Back to School
- On a Budget
- Entertaining

The Produce for Better Health Foundation Web Site, www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org, will feature a special section with "Get Smart!" resources, materials and activities for consumers. Look for the new site in mid-February. |
What You Can Do |
|
There are lots of ways you can promote fruits and veggies during National Nutrition Month. Here are a few simple suggestions.
- Highlight Get Smart! tips in a nutrition class or food demonstration
- Organize a fruit and vegetable tasting at a grocery store in your community and distribute Get Smart! "As You Shop" tips
- Put a link to http://www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org/ on your organization's website and direct clients to the new Get Smart! resources and activities (available mid-February)
- Write a Letter to the Editor about the importance of fruits and veggies and provide some Get Smart! tips for eating more fruits and veggies
- Create a display in your organization's foyer or cafeteria highlighting the observance of March Nutrition Month
