Position Summary

The Institute of Natural Resorces (INR -- http://oregonstate.edu/inr/)
invites applications for a part-time (.75 FTE), 12-month, fixed-term
Manager positon in the Oregon Explorer Program
(http://www.oregonexplorer.info/). Reappointment is at the discretion of
the Director.

The purpose of this position is to manage the Oregon Explorer (OE)
natural resources digital library program. The Oregon Explorer Program
Manager is responsible for the overall direction and management of
Oregon Explorer Program. 

Duties include program development and management; public relations and
outreach; scoping and initiating new projects; planning for project
implementation; coordinating diverse teams of web developers, natural
resource practitioners, and technical specialists; liasing with clients;
and making presentations about web-based products from the Oregon
Explorer program. 

The Oregon Explorer Program Manager also will be responsible for
preparing proposals to federal, state and non-governmental natural
resource agencies and organizations, and for providing project
management for a limited number of OE projects. OE Program Manager works
directly with the INR Director and Associate Director. 

 

Position Duties

50% OE Program development and management: 

Ensuring that adequate funds are secured through grants and contracts to
keep the OE Program and INR Information Program operating. 

Identify potential funding sources, prepare and/or assist in the
preparation of proposals, statements of work, and project budgets. 

Provide assistance to project teams with management, facilitation,
coordination, and administrative tasks as appropriate. 

Work with the Associate Director to ensure that all subsequent work is
completed satisfactorily and furthers the mission of INR. 

Oversee Program activities to improve the quality and nature of the OE
Program. Supervise OE Program staff.

35% OE project management:

Convene, supervise and manage project teams (e.g., work planning,
facilitation, coordination, budget management and administrative tasks
as appropriate) with emphasis on the development and implementation of
web portals that provide web-based access to comprehensive natural
resources information. 

Author project reports.

10% Public relations and outreach:

Maintain or establish working relationships with outside partners
including state, local, and federal agencies, land mangers, private
landowners, non-governmental organizations, and the academic community. 

Prepare and present information about Oregon Explorer program projects
at workshops, client meetings, and professional meetings. May require
traveling to other sites.

Use a variety of graphic applications including Internet, custom
software and decision-support tools, and PowerPoint to summarize and
communicate value-added nature and utility of products. 

 

5% Convening and facilitating collaborative efforts:

Develop, coordinate, and implement training workshops, seminars and
symposiums, consensus conferences, and research projects for INR
Projects. 

Support and/or lead teams developing workshops, seminars, and/or
training related to INR projects. 

Develop curriculum for and coordinate logistical support for on- and
off-site workshops. 

Provide both technical and facilitation support to workshop team as
appropriate
