POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Institute Of Natural Resources invites applications for a part-time (.50 FTE), 12-month, Manager of the Oregon Explorer Program position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Director.

As part of the Sustainability Act of 2001, the Oregon Legislature created the Institute for Natural Resources (INR) in the Oregon University System housed at OSU. The goals of INR include creating, maintaining and providing access to a clearinghouse of information, data and metadata related to natural resource issues important to the State of Oregon; conducting natural resource policy assessments and analyses; convening interdisciplinary research projects related to natural resource issues; providing a venue and processes for applied interdisciplinary research and problem solving

The Oregon Explorer Program Manager is responsible for the overall direction and management of Oregon Explorer Program (OE), which is a natural resources digital library developed in partnership with the OSU Libraries.

Duties include program development and management; public relations and outreach; scoping and initiating new projects; planning for project implementation; coordinating diverse teams of web developers, natural resource practitioners, and technical specialists; liasing with clients; making presentations about web-based products from the Oregon Explorer program;and serving on the INR Leadership Team. The Oregon Explorer Program Manager is also responsible for preparing grant applications and other funding proposals to federal, state and non-governmental natural resource agencies and organizations, and for providing project management for a limited number of OE projects. Oregon Explorer Program Manager works directly with the INR Director and the OSU Libraries Associate University Librarian.The Oregon Explorer Program Manager reports to the INR Director.

FTE increase is possible depending on fundraising success and/or existing candidate grants.
