Once again the attendees will have the opportunity to display their work at the conference Map Gallery. Show off that spectacular cartography, explain some exciting work you are doing or just display something fun. A distinguished panel of judges will select several poster displays for great prizes and a People’s Choice award will also be presented. Don’t forget that GISP points are awarded for presenting a poster. Space is limited so register your poster display using the Submit A Poster<http://sunriver2013.nwgis.org/node/add/abstract> form at sunriver2013.nwgis.org<http://sunriver2013.nwgis.org/>. When filling out the form select “poster” in the session field and include the number of 4 ft. x 8 ft. panels you will need in the abstract. Submit your poster today.

Mark Bosworth Scholarship for Young Professionals<http://sunriver2013.nwgis.org/page/volunteer>

Mark Bosworth - a selfless promoter of smart people and good ideas. Throughout his career Mark encouraged women to pursue careers in GIS, and in his role as a GIS professor at Portland State University he gave countless students the tools they needed to be successful professionals in the field. During Mark’s 20+ year career at Metro he was actively involved in the Northwest GIS User Conference. He served on the board, participated in the organizing committee, and was a regular presenter who shared his enthusiasm and knowledge of GIS to the user community. Many would say his greatest professional accomplishment – and what he was most proud of – are the students and colleagues who have gone on to make significant contributions in their careers, communities and to the GIS profession.

To continue Mark’s tradition of mentoring GIS professionals beginning their careers, and to honor Mark, the NW GIS User Conference and the Oregon and Southwest Washington Chapter of URISA are offering the Mark Bosworth Conference Scholarship for Young Professionals. This award covers the registration costs for the recipient to attend either the 2013 NWGIS User Conference in Sunriver, Oregon from October 14th through October 18th, 2013, or the 2014 GIS in Action Conference at Portland State University in April 2014. The recipient will also receive a small travel stipend, as well as the ability to meet either the ORURISA or NWGIS Board of Directors.
