ARCGIS CLASS IN BEND, OREGON

JANUARY 13, 14 & 15, 2015.

WORKING WITH ARCGIS FOR NATURAL RESOURCES, 3 days 

Designed for GIS users with natural resource interests, this class
includes resource management and wildlife scenarios. Exercises use data
about timber sales, fuels, streams and Spotted Owl nests from the
Siuslaw National Forest, the Black Crater fire, and the Florida Panther
Wildlife Refuge. This class is appropriate for new GIS users and for GIS
users wanting more in-depth instruction on core GIS skills. 

Core GIS skills include compiling and organizing data, understanding
projections, using symbology and labels to understand the data, working
with table tools to maximize the database functionality of GIS, working
with edit tools to create and clean the data, performing basic analysis,
and creating finished maps. Students will get to practice and improve
these skills while working through typical GIS projects. 

INSTRUCTOR:  

JOHN SCHAEFFER will be the instructor for these classes. He is the
Principal & Senior GIS Analyst for Juniper GIS, and has over 25 years of
experience in technical education and 20 years of experience using and
teaching GIS. He is certified as a GIS Professional (GISP) through the
GIS Certification Institute, an ESRI Certified Trainer, and a Certified
Technical Trainer through Comp TIA. 

INCLUDES:  

These are hands-on computer classes, and the cost includes the use of a
laptop computer for each participant with ArcGIS/ArcEditor software
loaded for the class. This class will be taught in version 10.1.
