Please see the message below from Sen. Wyden's office.  This is S. 740<https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/114/s740>, which basically codifies the Federal Geographic Data Committee's role in coordinating geospatial activities at the federal level, as well as providing them with the tools to be successful, including an expectation of more collaboration with state and local government to create and maintain the National Spatial Data Infrastructure.  It also provides Congressional oversight for those activities and give the National Geospatial Advisory Committee some teeth, so their recommendations will be meaningful going forward.

Contacting Sen. Wyden, Sen. Merkley and the rest of the Oregon Congressional delegation to let them know you support this bill would be very meaningful and timely.  If you don't have the contact information, the link above for the bill will walk you through making a phone call.
