The 2016 NWGIS User Group Conference is almost here

The 2016 NWGIS User Group Conference is almost here and you need to register soon. Early registration fees last through October 7, 2016. You will still be able to register after that, even at the conference, but registration fees will be higher. There are only a few rooms left in the Grand Hotel, so reserve yours soon by calling 503-540-7800, make sure to mention Northwest GIS Users to get the conference rate. Register for the conference now at https://nwgis.org/2016/registration.

The NWGIS User Conference offers lots of opportunities to improve your geospatial skills. There is still room in all of the pre-conference workshops, but several have just one or a few seats left. Check out the workshops at https://nwgis.org/2016/workshops. Other educational opportunities include a GeoDev meet up on Tuesday night, a Hacker’s Lab, and a Tuesday workshop teaching citizens how to map invasive species. There is also the Esri Learning Lab to develop your skills in a hands-on environment.

We will have some very interesting speakers. The keynote address will be by Keith Masback, CEO of the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation. Tom Rohlfing, Marion County Assessor, we give the Wednesday lunch presentation.

And then, of course, there is ample opportunity to share with your fellow professionals what you and they are doing in the many user presentations and panel discussions. Just the informal catching up with and conversation with geospatial professionals from across the Pacific Northwest is a great opportunity to learn more about your profession.

Planned social activities will give attendees more opportunities to relax and have fun with other geospatial professionals. Cy Smith, Oregon Geospatial Information Officer, will be leading the Pub Tour Tuesday evening with a chance to sample 60 different local beers at three pubs. Thursday evening, try your luck at games of chance at the Casino Night. Sorry, but real money is not involved. For more information on social activities go to https://nwgis.org/2016/venue-lodging-more.

So, join us in Salem, Oregon, October 17-21,2016. Learn more about all aspects of the conference at https://nwgis.org/2016, or go straight to registration at https://nwgis.org/2016/registration. The program agenda can be viewed at https://www.nwgis.org/2016/program.
