National Voluntary Environmental Assessment Information System (NVEAIS) Now Available for Comment 
Foodborne illness outbreak environmental assessments provide information needed by food regulatory programs to improve hazard surveillance and inform foodborne disease prevention policies. NVEAIS was developed to provide food-safety program managers with an information resource that could fill this gap. Food-safety programs can now access NVEAIS and pilot its use for foodborne illness outbreak environmental assessment reporting.

New TFAH Report: F as in Fat: How Obesity Threatens America's Future 2010

Managing Power and Influence: Stories from the Field

PHLS with its partners, PHLI, and NLN will be hosting a scientific session Managing Power and Influence: Stories from the Field, an interactive session that will feature Dr. Adewale Troutman, Director of Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness, and Dr. Covia Stanley, South Carolina Region 6 District Health Director. The session will present success stories and important lessons learned of local public health leaders regarding managing power and influence that has led to health systems change. Dr. Troutman and Dr. Stanley will share their stories of striving for health equity within their communities. These stories will illustrate the leadership competencies of mobilizing, coordinating and direct broad collaborative action within complex public health systems, in addition to the necessity of communication skills, collaborative leadership, and raising awareness of accountability.
