Office of Adolescent Health (OAH)
OAH offers a profile of adolescent mental health in every state and the District of Columbia compiled from the 2007 National Survey of Children's Health, the1991-2011 High School Youth Risk Behavior Survey data; and the 2009-2010 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health. Profiles include information such as the percentages of adolescents who: consistently exhibit positive social skills (according to parent); felt sad or hopeless; experienced depressive episodes; and considered or attempted suicides.

**NIIAH Partner: NAHIC and Child Trends
An analysis of data from the National Longitudinal Study of Adolescent Health (Add Health) shows that young, heterosexual adults who reported depressive or suicidal symptoms during adolescence are significantly more likely to report violence in their adult romantic relationships and sexual infidelity in their own or a partner's relationships. Authors call attention to the long-term importance of helping adolescents dealing with depression or suicidal symptoms, as well as identifying and helping adolescents at risk for these problems.

Mental Health America (MHA)
For more than 60 year MHA and affiliates across the country have led the observance of May is Mental Health Month by reaching millions of people through the media, local events and screenings. MHA provides free media, marketing and planning resources to help promote this year's theme, Pathways to Wellness. In addition to their promotional materials, MHA has an excellent set of fact sheets on "Understanding the Social Determinants of Health" - these are well framed, include numerous citations to evidence and offer specific recommendations for policy makers and state health directors.
