We hope you will be joining us for the annual conference, *Monday, October
13**th and Tuesday, October 14**th*  in Corvallis. One of the key note
speakers is Margarita Alegría, PhD (Director of the Center for
Multicultural Mental Health Research (CMMHR) at Cambridge Health Alliance
and Harvard Medical School) presenting *What We can learn to do to
Eliminate Disparities in Healthcare** For more information about the

 *1)*   Monday, October 13th: 12:00pm- 1:15pm* Health Education & Promotion
section Luncheon and Networking in* Alumni 115



Grab your lunch and join us in Alumni 115 for a “Speed Networking” Or
Physical Activity event.  Take advantage of this opportunity to  meet new
people and network with other health educators and promoters; learn about
expanding professional and educational opportunities in Oregon, including
ways you can be involved in our section. You will have an opportunity
nominate yourself or someone else for various section leadership
opportunities. You will also have a chance to complete a brief survey and
be entered to win a fabulous prize!


*2) *Monday, October 13th from 5:00 – 6:30 pm: *Essential Skills for
Collaborative Leadership Workshop* with APHA President Joyce R. Gaufin, BS
in Alumni Center, Ballroom 110C


A hands-on workshop to promote the value of collaboration. Learn how to
create an environment for successful collaboration through mutual
accountability, an open and credible process, and identifying common energy
drains.

Learning Objectives:

    1. Explain the difference between a group and a team
      2. Appreciate the justification for using the collaborative process
      3. Understand the characteristics of effective teams and
      dysfunctional teams


*Are you a M/CHES looking to obtain NCHEC credits?*


 Great! This program is approved for Certified Health Education Specialists
(CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to
receive up to 10 total Category I continuing education contact hours.
Please look for the NCHEC table (Near the Tweet Lab). At the table, you
will find an evaluation form. Forms will need to be completed and returned
prior to the end of the conference to receive a certificate of attendance.
Your credits will be submitted for you. If you have any questions about
