> Happy 2015 ORCHWA members & supporters!
> I want to share some big personal and organizational news.
>
> After almost 3 years working with the Oregon Community Health Workers Association (ORCHWA), I will be transitioning off staff at the end of this month. It has been an incredibly difficult decision to leave an organization that I care deeply about. I've grown so much through my work with ORCHWA and have been inspired a thousand times over by the CHWs and supporters that I have had the honor to work alongside of these past three years.
>
> Next month I’ll start as the Assistant Program Manager with the Healthy Families of Multnomah County Program. Through Healthy Families, I will have an opportunity to continue to work with home visitors and their supervisors, and many of ORCHWA’s partner organizations, so I will absolutely still continue to support Oregon’s growing CHW movement, albeit in a different capacity.
>
> I will be working hard with the ORCHWA Board to ensure a successful transition. ORCHWA is planning to hire a qualified candidate as soon as possible (please see below for job description - help us advertise!) This is a very good time for ORCHWA to manage such a transition. ORCHWA has the most incredible and engaged board of directors that I have ever had the pleasure of working with, and of course, a growing network of amazing members across the state. Last October, ORCHWA moved to a new fiscal sponsor home, the Oregon Public Health Institute and was just recently granted $325,000 from Kaiser Permanente Northwest to continue the Warriors of Wellness CHW project in the Portland Metro area into 2015. Although my leadership has been important to ORCHWA’s development, the organization’s accomplishments have been rooted in the leadership and engagement of many other people as well. Edna Nyamu has been doing a fabulous job as ORCHWA Coordinator and she is very committed to continuing in that role. She will continue to be a real anchor for the organization.
>
> I am incredibly proud and humbled by our work together at ORCHWA, and all of the terrific people who are a part of it. I have so appreciated the commitment, talent, and heart of the amazing CHWS that are every day, transforming Oregon’s health system, in ways seen and unseen. Thanks so much for your support and involvement.
>
> ORCHWA is seeking applicants to join the ORCHWA team for the Warriors of Wellness Program Manager position. A job description with more information can be found here.
> Please note:
> For those of you familiar with my work at ORCHWA, this position is slightly different and focuses much more time on the management of the Warriors of Wellness program.
> Some experience as a CHW and/or CHW supervisor is preferred. Experience with project management, quality improvement and healthcare settings are highly desired.
> We would like to hire the position as soon as possible to minimize a gap in management of this project. While the position is open until filled, the Hiring Committee will be doing their first review of qualified applicants as soon as January 20th, 2014.
> Thank you for circulating this position to anyone you think would be interested and qualified. Please feel free to call or email me with any questions.
