[HealthyTribes] Media opportunity: State obesity report

Today, HPCDP is sending a news release that says the obesity rate in Oregon has jumped 121 in the last 20 years. The release is being distributed to announce the release of the "Oregon Overweight, Obesity, Physical Activity and Nutrition Facts" report: http://public.health.oregon.gov/PreventionWellness/PhysicalActivity/Documents/Oregon_PANfactst_2012.pdf.

As many of you know, obesity is a hot topic right now, as Duke University and the CDC last week released a study projecting that the obesity rate will rise to 42 percent by 2030. And just last night, HBO began airing its "Weight of the Nation" documentary series about the obesity crisis.

This is an excellent opportunity to talk about the great work you are doing to reduce overweight and obesity in your communities. Reporters may be interested in localizing this statewide story with a mention, for example, of your activities around worksite wellness and Healthy Communities. To help you reach out or respond to reporters, I've attached several items, including:
