ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Organizations eligible to apply include U.S. based Native -led* nonprofits 501(c)(3), federally or state recognized tribal governments or programs, or Native American community-based groups with a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor. Schools are not eligible to apply unless they have 501(c)(3) status. *Native-led organizations are those organizations and community based groups in which the majority of leadership/board of directors identify as Native American.
GRANT PERIOD
The grant period is 10 months from June 1, 2016 – March 31, 2018.

This 10 month funding opportunity, made possible by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, will expand NB3F’s support of Native American communities working to improve the health of young children. Applications will be accepted from tribes and Native-led organizations across the country that specifically focus on the reduction of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) and increase the consumption of healthy beverage alternatives (such as water, breastfeeding, indigenous teas, etc.) for young children (0-8).

Tribes and Native-led organizations working to significantly reduce sugary drinks and to increase the consumption of healthy beverage alternatives (such as water, breastfeeding, indigenous teas, etc.) may apply for a grant between $10,000 and $40,000. Considering communities are at various stages of addressing SSB consumption, applicants may use the funding to focus on either of the two following areas: Community Health Assessments OR Implementation of Plans (based off previously conducted assessments and plans).
