[HealthyTribes] Announcing TGM-17 Grant Awards

Dear Partners -

OHA has worked quite a bit with the Transportation and Growth Management Program to provide training, technical assistance and convening of public health and transportation professionals in several communities around the state. OHA also has advised TGM's grant making program, since many communities seek funds to update plans to make their local infrastructure better support communities that are more livable - and hopefully, healthier.

TGM has announced their annual grant awards (attached). You may be interested in giving this list a scan and knowing what sort of planning is on the horizon in your community. Certainly public health can play a role in these planning processes by:


*         Sharing data about geographic and sub-population based health disparities, to give people most burdened by chronic disease and unsafe conditions better access to transit, walking and biking. (Aligning with the legislative transportation package passed this year, you'll see that many of the awardees will be overhauling transit plans to take advantage of an influx of transit operations funding next year).



*         Putting yourself forward to serve on a policy advisory committee or technical advisory committee.



*         Bringing new voices to public meetings that are typical parts of planning processes.

Please see attached - and also, a list of not awarded grant applications is attached. Although these were not funded, at least it gives you a sense of other things that are ahead in your community.
