Dear TPEP Coordinators:

We've received a lot of inquiries this week from local health department staff interested in attending the Rx for Change training. Thank you for all of your interest and enthusiasm! This training is being provided specifically for CCO staff to assist them in meeting their cessation benefit requirements. This training is not open to public health or clinical staff outside of CCOs.

As a reminder, county and tribal TPEP grant funds may not be used for tobacco cessation training. If you have clinical partners who would like more information about this particular tobacco cessation training curriculum, you can direct them to the training website: http://rxforchange.ucsf.edu/

If there are questions about this, please contact your HPCDP liaison

Thanks,
Andrew

Subject: Rx for Change Clinician-Assisted Tobacco Cessation training for CCOs

Dear TPEP coordinators:

We wanted to make you aware of an upcoming training being offered to CCOs regarding tobacco cessation. Over the next few months, two staff from each CCO will be invited to participate in an "Rx for Change Clinician-Assisted Tobacco Cessation" training. This training is co-sponsored by HPCDP and the OHA Transformation Center and is being provided in response to CCO requests to learn more about tobacco cessation best practices.

The program is based on the USPSTF tobacco cessation guidelines, and will include information about best practices in counseling interventions and pharmacotherapy. The first training will be offered in Portland in February, and two others will be offered in Bend and Medford in May. Please see attached for the training flyer which has been distributed to CCOs.

There is no action that you need to take related to this training, but we wanted to make sure that you're aware it's being offered to CCOs. We hope this will also lead to additional opportunities for CCOs and local public health departments to work together on cessation. If you have any questions, please contact your HPCDP liaison.

Thank you!
