Subject: Training webinars for county retail assessments

Dear Tribal Partners,

The Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention (HPCDP) section at OHA will be holding two training webinars for the upcoming tobacco and alcohol retail assessment. The same content will be covered in both webinars. We'd like to invite you to join a webinar if you are interested in learning more about the retail assessment counties will be conducting starting in April. The tobacco and alcohol retail assessment aims to gather statewide point-of-sale data at tobacco and alcohol retailers. The widespread availability of tobacco and alcohol products and the visibility of tobacco, alcohol and sugary drink marketing at point-of-sale remain a significant public health concern, particularly in low socio-economic communities or neighborhoods with higher density of communities of color.

The webinars will cover the purpose and scope of the retail assessment, how to use the tool (attached) and what information/data coordinators will receive as a result of the data collection. With respect to tribal sovereignty and autonomy, participation by tribal partners is entirely optional.

Thank you to those who participated in the Tribal Retail Assessment call a few weeks ago. We look forward to continuing conversations about retail assessment opportunities in tribal communities if you are interested in doing so.

Information to register for the webinars is below. Please feel free to contact Ilana Kurtzig at ilana.s.kurtzig at state.or.us<mailto:ilana.s.kurtzig at state.or.us> or Ashley Thirstrup at Ashley.thirstrup at state.or.us<mailto:Ashley.thirstrup at state.or.us> with any questions.
