OREGON 150 PREPS NEWSLETTER, WEB BROADCAST
The link http://www.oregon150.org/newsletters/newsletter3.html will get
you to the latest Oregon 150 newsletter, which includes the Governor's
press release about the organization, and information on its next board
meeting, which will be broadcast on the web. Oregon 150 is a nonprofit
organization planning for the 150th anniversary of Oregon statehood in
2009.
HERITAGE TREE EVENT SCHEDULED APRIL 4
The Spring 2007 Oregon heritage tree and marker programs newsletter is
available online at

The newsletter features items about the heritage tree dedication on
April 4 for the Tollgate Maples on Mt. Hood near Rhododendron, the Giant
Spruce of Cape Perpetua, and the historic Oak Grove at the State
Fairgrounds.

CULTURAL TRUST SLATES GRANT WORKSHOPS
The Oregon Arts Commission and the Oregon Cultural Trust announce a
series of free grant writing workshops in preparation for May 1 grant
deadlines for the Commission and a May 15 deadline for the Trust.
Commission assistant director Shannon Planchon and Trust manager Jim
Cox, will lead the workshops designed to help cultural nonprofits
develop successful grant writing skills. The workshops will
provide general information about the organizations* grant programs
and will include tips and information. Carol E. Hickman of the Oregon
Council for the Humanities will assist with several workshops.
The workshops are scheduled for March 28 Roseburg, March 29 Coos Bay,
April 3 Corvallis, April 4 Sisters, April 5 Portland, April 11
Pendleton, and April 12 LaGrande.

SEVERAL MUSEUMS ANNOUNCE RE-OPENINGS
Heritage sites in Fort Rock, Tillamook and Vista House have announced
reopenings.
The Village Homestead Museum in Fort Rock opened early this year and is
now open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Pre-arranged tours during the
week may also be made. Call 541-576-2251 or 541-576-2207 for
information on tours.
The Tillamook Air Museum in Tillamook has reopened after being closed
for two months for maintenance and repairs. The Air Museum is housed in
a World War II Blimp Hangar built in 1942 and was used as a Navy Base
until decommissioning in 1948. The museum is open daily from 9 a.m.-4
p.m. and is adjacent to the Tillamook Airport. Please call (503)

The Vista House at Crown Point State Scenic Corridor is now open from
10 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily Open on weekends and holidays for the first time
this past winter, the historic Columbia River Gorge landmark has a
museum and an interpretive display of historic and geologic points of
interest. Its hours will extend to 9 a.m.-6 p.m. beginning April 19.
Crown Point is on the Historic Columbia River Highway, eight miles east
of Troutdale. The Friends of the Historic Columbia River Highway web
site at www.hcrh.org recently completed a remodeling to enable people to
learn more about the Historic Columbia River Highway and the Friends of
the Historic Columbia River Highway.
