ENCYCLOPEDIA GROUP SETS TILLAMOOK COMMUNITY MEETING

Project in Tillamook from noon-3 p.m. March 31 at the Tillamook County
Library located at 1716 Third St. The meeting is free and open to the
public. Refreshments will be served.

Participants will be asked to contribute their knowledge of local
history and culture to The Oregon Encyclopedia, an online resource of
the state’s significant people,
places, events, and institutions available at
http://www.oregonencyclopedia.org. The Oregon Encyclopedia is a
partnership between Portland State University,
the Oregon Historical Society, and the Oregon Council of Teachers of
English.

The meeting will include a presentation by Tillamook County Library
staff about the local historical resources available at the Library that
support the research and writing of local history. Doug Decker,
executive director of the Tillamook Forest Heritage Trust and
contributor to the encyclopedia, will lead a discussion about the
region’s history, and work with participants to identify Tillamook
